The Brainerd Lakes Bassmasters met Sunday January 20, 2008, at Bada Bings. President Keith Tuma called the meeting to order at 1:10 pm.

Present were: Dan Doughty, Jim Eide, Tony Espeland, Chad Foster, Justin Goss, Chad Ingvalson, Greg Kangas, Nick Koschmeder, Craig Paulson, Scott Roesner, Rod Romine, and Keith Tuma. Along with newcomer Corey Ledin.

Keith Tuma and Chad Foster reported on the Federation meeting in Medina. This year’s Tournament of Champions is being held September 3rd-5th on the Mississippi River pools 4 and 5 at Wabasha City Park. The alternate tournament is held on pool 5a out of Minnesota City. The limit for the TOC is 5 fish with no culling, and the top 4 will be counted as your weight. We will decide if/who wants to fish the TOC in upcoming meetings.

The Gopher Bass Club is the only club to put forth a proposal for the 2009 TOC, which would be held on Lake Pokegama. They’re still working with the DNR to also have the Mississippi River open.

A new club was created called the Elite Reserve Club for those members that would still like to fish the TOC but has had their clubs disbanded. The club would have one tournament to determine who’d qualify for the TOC.

The last thing at the Federation meeting was the introduction of the new website, www.mnbfn.org

Scott Roesner gave the treasury report with a total of $448.97 in the checkbook. A check for $350.00 was written at the end of November to the Minnesota Bass Federation for 6 people to keep our club in good standing.

Membership dues of $120 are due by the last meeting that is tentatively scheduled for early part of April. The break down of the $120 is $20 for administrative dues, $50 for Tournament dues, and $50 for State Federation dues.

Election of 2008 officers took place. Scott Roesner was re-elected to be Treasurer. Justin Goss was also re-elected as the Secretary. Rod Romine was newly elected as the Tournament Director with a unanimous vote. Also newly elected Nick Koschmeder as the Brainerd Lakes Bassmasters new 2008 President.

Next meeting was scheduled for February 17th at noon at Bada Bings. During that meeting we will determine tournament lakes and dates. Something to consider is having tournaments on new water that can be considered small but dividing up the lake method, which was used on Lake Hammal in our last tournament.
Meeting adjourned 1:53 pm.
