Words from the President: Our fourth tournament on the Mississippi River was a good one. The day started out a bit foggy. This made running up the River a bit tricky. But all anglers made it up and back safely, and all the boats came back in one piece. Several four pound bass came to the scales, along with a couple of five pounders. Early predictions were it might take nineteen pounds to win. That proved to be true.
Jim and Kim took home first place trophies. They weighed in over eighteen pounds. Seems they were culling three pound fish. Congratulations to Jim and Kim on their victory.
Craig showed up, and he teamed with Wade to capture second place honors. Their limit weighed over seventeen pounds. Craig also took big bass honors with a lunker weighing five pounds and 2 ounces. He edged out Arnie by a mere half ounce for big fish. Kudos to Wade and Craig.
Our final tournament will be Saturday, September 24, on Cedar Lake. We will be launching from the only public access on the lake. Note the change in times for this event. We will begin at 8:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM.
We want to wish Jim, Dan, Wade, and Troy luck as they fish this year's state tournament on the le Homme Dieu chain of lakes in Alexandria, September 8 and 9. Rod will be competing in the alternates tournament the day before. With a good showing, he could move on to the state tournament. So good luck to Rod.
Have a good rest of the summer. We will see everybody at Cedar.

Lakes Area “Clash” TournamentWhen: Sunday September 18, 2005
Where: Don’t know yet…Baxter picks the lake and hasn’t notified us yet as to the location.
What: The three area Bassmaster clubs meet each fall in a tournament to compete against each other. Each contestant is paired in a boat with an angler from one of the other two clubs. You are fishing for your own weight. The person you are fishing with is fishing against you. Your total weight (five fish) will be considered for your individual weight and will be added to your club weight total as well.
Who: Each club sends 6 people to the Clash (three boaters and three non boaters). Our club pays the $10 entry fee for those 6 individuals. Anyone else that would like to participate can pay their own entry fee of $10 and fish it. There will be a big bass pot also which is $5 per person. Every contestant is responsible to pay this fee themselves. The club will not be picking up any big bass entry fees.
We qualify people by their current club standings, including their throw out, at the time of the Clash. People in the Brainerd Lakes Bassmasters that qualified to fish the Clash are: Boaters….Keith Tuma, Jim Eide and Dan Doughty. Dan cannot fish it, so next in line is Terry Carper. If Terry is unable to fish it then it would be Greg and so on and so forth.
Non-boaters: Troy Bruns, Chad Ingvalson and Reid Seevers.
If you’ve qualified and will not be fishing the Clash you need to notify Arnie ASAP, so he can contact the next person that qualified.
If you did not qualify and are still planning on fishing the Clash you need to call Arnie ASAP so you’re name will go into the partner draw.
Attention non-boaters:
Keep in mind the cost of running a boat. Please help out your boater partner by chipping in on the gas money.
